Sainte-Justine Hospital and New IT Healthcare
sign a partnership agreement to run a telehomecare
unit
After an in-depth
analysis of available technologies, Sainte-Justine
Hospital announced today a partnership with New
IT Healthcare to use its Intelligent Distance
Patient Monitoring (IDPM) solution which allows
a clinical relationship to be established between
a patient remaining at home and a healthcare professional
through the use of a bi-directional and secure
link. This project, called Centre de Télésoins
Bell-Sainte-Justine, is made possible by a donation
from Bell Canada. It is foreseen that the use
of this unit will benefit 200 children and adolescents
presenting with complex health issues, most notably
chronic diseases that require regular follow-up.
Telehomecare,
an innovative approach beneficial for all
Dr. Lucie Poitras, Director of Professional Services
for Sainte-Justine Hospital, states, “Our
intention in setting up the Centre de Télésoins
Bell-Sainte-Justine is to develop, using communication
and information technologies, new approaches in
the provision of healthcare. By giving patients
and their families a rigorous framework for supervision
and training, we are certain that we can improve
their quality of life. We also believe that telehomecare
will contribute towards achieving our quality
and performance goals, most notably in minimizing
hospital readmissions and in reducing pressure
on our clinics and emergency departments. This
is why it is necessary to evaluate this innovative
approach and measure its potential benefits. New
IT Healthcare offers us the possibility of advancing
in the spheres of pediatric telehomecare, integrating
with the information systems already in place
and the possibility of sharing our clinical expertise,
both nationally and internationally.”
IDPM,
a solution that responds to real clinical needs
Louis Larouche, President of New IT Healthcare,
adds, “We are proud to associate ourselves
with Sainte-Justine Hospital, an institution recognized
for its clinical and technological leadership
in the provision of highly specialized pediatric
health services. The strength of our solution
is based on the partnership we have with professionals
in the healthcare field. These professionals develop
the clinical content that answers their real needs,
and this in turn permits the creation of a more
therapeutic relationship that is made possible
by our technology. Our association with the clinical
experts at Sainte-Justine Hospital will help to
improve our already proven technology to respond
to the specific needs of pediatric clients.”
