Grand littoral
The Grand-Littoral Local Services Network from
St-Romuald, Quebec invests in a telehomecare project
using the IDPM technology of New IT Healthcare.
Local Services
Networks are responsible for the accessibility
and continuity of health services offered to their
population. The Grand-Littoral Local Services
Network has invested in a telehomecare pilot project
using the Intelligent Distance Patient Monitoring
(IDPM) solution of New IT Healthcare, based in
Montreal, Quebec. This pilot project, with an
initial duration of three months, is financed
by the Paul-Gilbert Foundation. The Foundation
is confident the use of IDPM will reduce pressure
on the Local Services Network providing healthcare
to the region.
The IDPM application,
which allows patients to be cared for by healthcare
staff, while remaining in their own homes, also
has functionalities which permits healthcare professionals
from the Network and from the Hôtel-Dieu
University Hospital in Lévis to share information
on the health of patients. Each group of healthcare
professionals will be able to add their clinical
observations to a patient’s shared follow-up
file. The IDPM solution will ask the patient to
enter vital sign measurements, respond to dynamic
questions and provide their observations with
the use of a touch screen phone, all from the
comfort of their own home. The goal is to support
patients in following their care plan, to help
them become more independent and improve the quality
of their lives. The IDPM solution will provide
education and reinforce behavior modification
to help patients better manage their chronic illness.
